Corrections and right of reply
Anyone publishing figures will get some of them wrong. What matters is whether the mistakes are fixed in public or quietly erased.
The corrections log
No corrections have been issued. Nothing has been published yet. When a correction is made, it will be listed here with the date, what was wrong, what it was changed to, and where the error appeared.
How corrections work here
- Every correction is logged on this page. Pages and data files are not edited silently.
- A dataset that changes gets a new version with a dated note on what changed. Earlier versions stay available, so anyone who cited one can still find it.
- A correction names what was wrong, not only that something was. "A figure was updated" is not a correction.
- If a mistake has been repeated elsewhere because it was published here, the correction says so.
Reporting an error
Write to mercenomics@gmail.com. If you can, say which page or file, which figure, and what the correct value is with its source. Reports are answered, whether or not they turn out to be right.
Right of reply
Any company, organisation or person named on this site may send a response. It will be published alongside the material it concerns, in full, unedited except for length, with a note of when it was received.
This applies to firms named in a dataset or an article. It does not oblige Mercenomics to remove a figure drawn from a public record, but a reply disputing that figure will be published next to it, and the figure re-checked against its source.
What Mercenomics will not do
- Remove a figure because someone would rather it were not public, where the figure comes from an official record and is correctly described.
- Publish an accusation that no official body or established investigation has made.
- Accept payment, in any form, from a firm covered here, including in exchange for a correction or removal.
